The Brief
Move it Boom is all about getting children to be active through play and keeping them moving. With a target audience of children aged between 5 and 11, we designed and developed a website that acted as a themed ‘world’ of fun, replete with colourful characters, engaging digital games and fast-paced animated videos.
A key feature was based on children and their parents recording each physical activity they completed on the campaign’s website. To get the children’s attention, we knew that a strong narrative hook was needed; so we developed a story where children had to be active in order to ‘unlock’ new physical activities. Local primary schools were also encouraged to compete against each other.
My Role
Story Direction - Conceiving the narrative concept and writing the script featured throughout the interactive story.
Game Logic - Working out the best way to get kids active through a compelling story and gamification.
Character Design - Creating the cast of characters the user will meet as they travel through the experience.
Illustration - A visually loaded project, I created a high number of illustrated elements.

Gamification was key to encourage children to continue to record physical activities during the summer break. We created a set of achievements that unlocked after entering a set number while playing through the narrative based story.
